From his origin came <strong>Cuajaip<\/strong>, who walked among humans to teach and guide them. This lord has a wife named \u2018<strong>Anajicojond\u00ed<\/strong>,\u2019 and although he has not made use of her due to lacking a physical body, he nevertheless has three children through her. One of them, called \u2018<strong>Cuajaip<\/strong>,\u2019 was conceived in the <em>Acaragui<\/em> mountains; he was a true man and lived for a long time among our ancestors to instruct them. He was powerful and had many people under his command, because whenever he wished he would go beneath the earth, and from there he would bring forth men. But these ungrateful people, despising the many benefits they had received from him, conspired against him and killed him; and when they put him to death, they pierced his head with a crown of thorns.\u201d<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-text stk-block-text stk-block stk-f6f933b\" data-block-id=\"f6f933b\"><p class=\"stk-block-text__text has-text-align-center translation-block\">\u201cThey also added that in heaven, which is more populated than the earth, there was once a terrible war, because a great figure of that land, called by some <strong>Tupar\u00e1n<\/strong> and by others <strong>Bac<\/strong>, conspired with all his followers against the supreme Niparaj\u00e1. However, after Niparaj\u00e1 emerged victorious in the war, he took from Tupar\u00e1n the pitahayas and all the other delicious fruits he possessed, cast him out of heaven along with all his followers, imprisoned him in a cave near the sea, and created the whales to guard him and prevent him from escaping.\u201d<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-text stk-block-text stk-block stk-01b21ab\" data-block-id=\"01b21ab\"><p class=\"stk-block-text__text has-text-align-center\">\u201cThey also said that Niparaj\u00e1 did not desire war, whereas Tupar\u00e1n did; for this reason, those who died pierced by arrows did not go to heaven, but to the cave of Tupar\u00e1n.\u201d<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-text stk-block-text stk-block stk-eeb03fd\" data-block-id=\"eeb03fd\"><p class=\"stk-block-text__text has-text-align-center\">\u201cFrom these doctrines arose in the land of the Peric\u00faes two opposing sects or factions, both in their beliefs and in their customs. The followers of Niparaj\u00e1 were generally serious, circumspect, and obedient to reason, and thus it was not difficult for the missionaries to persuade them of evangelical truths, making use of their false doctrines.
